My Roundup Of Rutland Water Hotels

  • Best for Families: Without doubt, I’d suggest Rutland Hall Hotel & Spa (jump to review) for anyone travelling with children. There’s more facilities in this hotel than any other, including a swimming pool, crazy golf, tennis and squash courts.
  • Best for Great Food and Drink: I’ve stayed at The Finch’s Arms (jump to review) twice now and the food and drink certainly stands out. A menu that changes regularly always offers high-quality food, and they’ve got a great wine list.
  • Best for Value For Money: Normanton Park (jump to review) offers really great accommodation at affordable prices. It’s part of the Best Western chain, and you can literally walk out of the hotel onto the footpath next to Rutland Water.
  • Best for a Luxury Romantic Break: It’s expensive but worth it for that special occasion. Hambleton Hall (jump to review) is not just the most luxurious hotel in Rutland, but it’s also one of the most popular in the UK. Individually themed rooms will last long in the memory.
  • Best for Rustic Countryside Charm: I stayed at The Barnsdale (jump to review) when it was previously Barnsdale Lodge Hotel – and wasn’t that impressed. But it’s had a significant upgrade since, and a rebrand, and I’ve heard great reviews. Being a former hunting lodge, it’s no surprise that it oozes charm.

As I mentioned earlier, I’ve been to every hotel recommended in this guide, some of them more than once, and can genuinely say that you won’t be disappointed.
